Senior Application and Process Engineer Full Time

Azul 3D is looking for a Senior Process Engineer on the Applications Team who will perform the critical function of process optimization as Azul 3D continues to expand printing capabilities in the industry and targets specific markets based on our revolutionary technology. Azul 3D’s HARP technology created a paradigm shift in manufacturing and opened more parameters to tune than any other printer. As Azul 3D targets new markets, we are looking for a Senior Process Engineer to concentrate on the print quality and consistency required in high-end manufacturing with production capacity in the millions.  The position is ideal for someone that excels in solving complex problems and collaborating on innovative solutions.  This individual will need to have experience in photopolymer chemistry and reaction kinetics.

THE OPPORTUNITY

• Learn to use Azul 3D printers and be a subject matter expert on operation and print optimization.
• Develop experiments and validation tests around the printing process, focusing on parameter optimization and consistency.
• Identify best methods, tools, and procedures for collecting elite experimental data with novel application to the printer.
• Expand capabilities of the printer by optimizing processes to target identified markets.
• Communicate product use cases to the company’s Hardware, Software and Materials teams to ensure the continued product improvement.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Utilize 3D design tools to develop and print the next generation of additively manufactured products.
• Use your creativity and engineering skills to design custom, high quality parts that showcase the Azul 3D printer’s capabilities.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, or Additive Manufacturing.
• 3-5 years of experience in R&D and process development.
• Practical knowledge in photopolymer chemistry and reaction kinetics.
• Understanding of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and executing experiments and analyzing collected data.
• Proven record in project management and delivering results.
• Programming skills and knowledge.
• Strong entrepreneurial drive.
• Experience in 3D design, visualizations, and rendering.
• Experience maintaining and developing customer relationships.
• Experience in design for additive manufacturing.

HOW YOU’LL REALLY STAND OUT

• Expertise in manufacturing and demonstrated success with multiple manufacturing methods.
• Experience in an early stage, tech-focused environment.
• Experience with 3D printers and design for additive manufacturing, particularly in R&D.
• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Additive Manufacturing, or advanced degree with training in thermodynamics, kinetics, and fluid mechanics.
• Demonstrated mechanical knowledge and expertise.
• Willingness to take a hands-on approach to problem solving.
• Experience in CAD programs, such as Fusion 360, nTopology, Blender (Alternatively Cinema 4D, Keyshot, Maya, etc.), Rhino+Grasshopper, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, or similar.

HERE IS HOW WE ANTICIPATE YOUR FIRST SIX MONTHS LOOKING:

Within one month, you will:

• Understand Azul’s core technologies, technology roadmap, printers, and business strategy.
• Socialize with the cross-functional team, understanding each person’s area of expertise and skills spanning the hardware, software, materials, and product applications teams.
• Understand how to use the Azul 3D printers and obtain hands-on experience in print process optimization

Within three months, you will:

• Own your role as Senior Process Engineer, supporting further platform optimization, print parameters, and chemistry in a systems-based approach.
• Partner with customers to get Azul 3D printers into industrial production.
• Design a set of tests and analyze results to determine optimal process parameters for the specific application verticals Azul 3D is targeting.

Within six months, you will:

• Mentor other members of the Applications Team on process optimization and design, partnering with other applications engineers to solve critical customer problems, and perform design of experiment analysis.
• Contribute to Azul 3D’s growth through consistently delivering outstanding products and innovations.
